In addition to the trails on the farm, there is a vast network of hiking and dog-walking trails as well as canoeing and kayaking opportunities that begin about two miles from the farm.

Horse Back Riding Options Off the Farm: There are two free venues for horseback riding in Calvert County, and many more within a short drive out of the county. These include: Biscoe Gray Heritage Farm and Kings Landing Park in Calvert County.

Just across the county line is Maxwell Hall Park in Charles County, Maryland. It features 14.2 miles of diverse riding trails, open fields, a jump course, wooded areas, steep terrain, shoreline, beach rest locations and a trail course.Membership is just $25 per year.

There is a vast network of hiking and dog-walking trails and canoeing and kayaking opportunities that begin about two miles from here American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT). Explore ACLT's self-guided hiking trails on your own, join a guided canoe trip, or attend one of the activities included in the Calendar of Events to experience the beautiful 3,000-acre preserved area for yourself. The ACLT is  the most pristine watershed on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay

Calvert County, Maryland hosts a fantastic aquatic center which has a huge indoor pool, kiddie pool area as well as therapeutic warm pool and hot tub area, gym, meeting room and party room. The Edward T. Hall Indoor Aquatic Center is about a 7 minute drive from the farm.

There are also outdoor pools, nature centers, fantastic libraries, etc. New Era Farm is in a Blue Ribbon School District. Maryland has been number ONE for high schools for the entire nation for the past five years.
